Darwin Falls - Death Valley - Mid-Winter: During most of the winter months this desert oasis does not receive direct sunlight and that's a good thing. The indirect lighting provides a more uniform and pastoral illumination. The feeling I tried to achieve was one of a cool remote grotto by keeping the exposure dark and the color saturated. This was helped along by employing a Blue/Gold Polarizer which added an additional gleam to the wet rocks. Lake - Southwestern Colorado. This photograph was slightly underexposed to increase the lush green of the hills and preserve the wonderful detail in the clouds. Although taken midday, the rather extensive cloud activity muted the overall brightness and contrast of the scene and dappled the hillsides with shadows to add further depth to the scene. Including the foreground rock also contributes to depth and livens up a rather plain little pond. Format: 35mm, Lens: 50mm, Film: Fuji Velvia. - Mark Borneman
