Ship Rock Ship Rock - New Mexico: Taken shortly after an intense thunderstorm with a long lens. At this angle the foreground was plain and un-interesting so juxtaposing the clearing sky against the flattened outline of Shiprock provided the best opportunity for an interesting composition. Format: 35mm, Lens: 100-300mm, Filters: none, Film: Kodachrome 25. - Mark Borneman.

Zabriskie Sunrise Zabriskie Sunrise - Near Zabriskie Point, Death Valley - Mid-Winter: Sunrise from the standard Zabriskie Point viewing area, though dramatic, does not yield good photos as the rising sun is opposite the prime subject yielding flat images. Moving to the Northwest and shooting close to the Winter Solstice when the sun rises more from a Southeasterly direction produced the much more dramatic lighting seen here. Also, four trips over two years to the same spot for the right conditions didn't hurt either. Format: 6 x 7, Lens: 90mm, Aperture: f8, Filter: Polarizer, 81B, Film: Velvia. - Mark Borneman.
